U-pick Flowers

U-Pick Ticket Policies

  • To ensure entry, tickets should be pre-purchased online.  If tickets are sold out, entry may not be possible.
  • Tickets are only valid for the appointment date & time indicated on the ticket. You may arrive any time during this time period and stay as long as you would like until closing time.
  • U-Pick tulips do not include the bulb. Pre-orders for bulbs are available online starting during the u-pick season and continuing until the end of October. Bulbs are available for pick up or delivery starting in late September.
  • Bouquet wrapping supplies are included.
  • Flower picking baskets are provided.
  • Tickets are non-refundable unless we close for extreme weather. Check Facebook and Instagram for updates. Refunds are at our discretion and are subject to a $2 fee per ticket or bouquet.
  • We are open rain or shine. The weather where you are may not be the same where we are! Be sure to wear proper footwear and bring rain gear if the weather requires it.
  • There are picnic tables available. Bringing a lunch or snack is a great way to enjoy the flowers a little bit longer! Please, no portable BBQs.

At the farm and in the fields

  • No tools are needed to pick tulips as they are pulled right from the ground. Snippers for picking other flowers in the summer are provided.
  • When picking tulips, the bulb should remain in the ground so as not to disturb or damage the surrounding tulips. If they get pulled up they will be snipped off when wrapping your bouquet. Bulbs are not included with your ticket as bulbs are replanted in the fall. If you would like to keep the bulb, they can be purchased at an additional cost.
  • The summer flowers have special picking instructions. Please come chat with us to learn the best time and techniques for picking these flowers in your bouquets.
  • Should you find a picked flower left in the field, please bring it to us at the wrapping station and it will not be included toward your flower count. This helps keep the field tidy for others.
  • Once you pick a flower, do not put it back in the ground. It will not survive and makes the field look messy for other visitors.
  • Please be aware that your flowers may look wilted for the first half-day or so after being cut. They will perk back up after being in water for a few hours.
  • Tripods for photography are allowed but no reflectors, light stands, props etc.
  • Drones are permitted, just let us know when you are in the field.
  • The mosquitoes can be quite hungry, especially during the tulip season. We spray a natural garlic solution around the field to deter the mosquitoes.
  • Please respect that the farm is also a private residence. Please do not visit when we are closed.
  • Well mannered pets are permitted as long as they remain leashed and do not trample the flowers. Please be aware that tulips and many other flowers are poisonous to dogs.

Parking and Accessibility

  • Parking is on a farm field. If it is a rainy day, it will get muddy.
  • Parking is at your own risk.
  • We recommend leaving the fancy sports car at home due to low ground clearance. Please go slow and obey directional signage!
  • The farm is not paved and can be uneven and muddy when wet. Some of the paths are wide enough to accommodate mobility aids and strollers, but it is not always easy to maneuver.
  • Rideshares: please be aware that you can usually get a ride with ride share companies out to the farm, but that it is difficult to get a ride back even with a pre-booked ride. You may need to wait a long time for a return ride. There are no buses or taxi stands in the area.

Groups

  • Please email us to arrange for groups of at least 15 as we may offer discounts for your group.
  • You may be sharing the field with other customers.
  • Since we are on Mother Nature’s schedule, we cannot guarantee the dates that we are open. We will offer you dates to reschedule if we are not open on your event date.

Commercial Photography

If a photographer is at our farm for monetary gain, we ask that they offer us the professional courtesy of purchasing a “Photographer” ticket. The Photographer ticket acts as a site fee.

  • Everyone who comes for a photo shoot requires a ticket.
  • Each group requires the purchase of at least one “Picking” ticket so that flowers can be picked before, during, or after the shoot.
  • Please email us if re-booking is required. We limit the amount of professional photographers in the field to one at a time.
  • We suggest that photographers purchase the tickets for their clients and pass on the tickets and cost to their client. This ensures that the proper tickets are purchased for their session.
  • Photography-related tickets are non refundable, but are re-bookable at our discretion.
  • Photographer tickets do not include flowers, but your clients’ “Picking” tickets include flowers.
  • Tripods are allowed but no reflectors, light stands, props etc. unless arranged with us ahead of time.
  • We are open to the public and thus cannot guarantee that your clients’ photos will not have other people in them.
  • Please arrange yourselves so as not to block access to areas of the field for others.
  • If a photographer does not adhere to these policies, further booked sessions with the photographer may be cancelled.
  • If we suspect that a photographer has clients in the field and has not purchased a “Photographer” ticket, we will ask the photographer to pay their fee. If the photographer refuses, we will ask the photographer to leave the field. Their clients are welcome to stay and enjoy the flowers.

Bulk flower orders

Bulk flower orders.

  • If $150 worth of u-pick flowers will be purchased, a bulk increase in flowers will be applied.
  • 50% deposit required upon ordering with the remainder due within 1 week of delivery.
  • Additional charges for we-pick or bouquet arranging will apply.
  • Additional supplies like wrapping require additional charges.
  • Flower choices are not guaranteed as Mother Nature always has her own timeline and crop failures are always a threat when farming.
  • We will always do our best to provide you with the best we have to offer at the time of picking. We will discuss any required changes as soon as we know about them.

Bouquet Subscriptions

Bouquet subscriptions are sometimes called CSAs

  • If you are unable to pick up your bouquet, there are options so that you can still receive flowers.
    1) You can exchange your bouquet for an “Anytime Picking Ticket” so that you can come to the fields to u-pick a bouquet when it is convenient for you. Please give us at least 24 hours notice before your regular pick up day if you would like to make this change.
    2) You can change the pick up to a different Monday or Friday that is more convenient for you. Please give us at least 24 hours notice before your regular pick up day if you would like to make this change.
    3) Someone else can pick up your bouquet instead as they only need to provide your name at pick up.
  • Missed pick ups are not refunded or exchanged as your bouquet will have already been made in anticipation of your pick up.
  • Pick up reminder emails are sent out a day or two before your pick up day.
  • Correspondence by email is preferred. You can reply directly to your order confirmation email. This helps us easily find your order and keep track of any conversations through the season.
  • Please let us know if there is a problem or any sort of disappointment throughout the season. We will always do our best to provide you with our best flowers, but there is always a chance that something goes awry in the process.

Bulb sales

Bulbs are planted in the Fall. Pre-orders begin in June.

  • Bulbs can be pre-ordered in the summer or purchased on our farm beginning in mid to late September.
  • Bulbs can be planted until the ground is frozen, but are ideally planted around Thanksgiving in our area.
  • Bulbs sales include bonemeal to give your blooms a boost.
  • Pre-ordered bulbs are occasionally unavailable from our supplier. We will contact you suggesting some alternatives if we need to make substitutions in your order.
  • We guarantee that your bulbs are packed in plantable condition. We ask you to inspect your bulbs and if they are not in good shape, you must let us know within 7 days so we can replace them from our available stock.
  • We guarantee the bulbs that are shipped are in plantable condition. After they are delivered to the post office, we cannot guarantee how they are handled or stored.
  • Growing bulbs and flowers always comes with risks because there are various possible garden and climatic conditions.  We cannot guarantee their success in your garden.

Winter sales

Vases of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and more grown on stones in water.

  • As such, we have added a deposit of $3 to each arrangement that will be returned to you when the vase is returned to us. The vases that we use for these arrangements are very difficult to source as they are a unique size.
  • The vases of bulbs should last a week. However, there are variables, like watering and room temperature, that effect vase life once you get them home so we cannot guarantee how long they will be in bloom.
